hmmmm
so I walked out of the church office yesterday and the first four cars parked there were an Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, and Cadillac. Not quite sure what to do with that....
Careful - when we begin to judge how people live, we need to be careful. God may have truly blessed those members of your church who have been diligent in their giving of tithes and offerings. I remember a member of our church (a young Christian) who believed that everyone who was a fellow Christian should live in poverty and give everything to the "poor." The problem with this is that sometimes the "poor" have made poor choices and need to improve their decisionmaking abilities. Giving is not always the answer. However, lest our hearts be cold toward the needy, we can become a guiding part of the local body of believers responsible for distributing help to those in need. God will truly bless financially those who are responsible in their finances by bringing a tithes into the storehouse.
I agree with you for the most part, that's why the subject line was "hmmmm." It was more of a wrestling thought than a judgment.
The owner of one of the vehicles took early retirmetn from a high paying job to work for the church full time, but be paid part time.
My Dad has faithfully tithed and we've seen God bless our family through that and many memebers of our church, while wealthy, give extravagantly to Kingdom Work.
My heart goes out for the urban poor and the many in the world who don't even have a vehicle, so some of these luxury vehicles seem a little beyond what you may need.
this is jed, I hail from the East Coast, but currently I am living in a home from 1909 with my wife Hannah in Columbus, Ohio. Hannah is a stunningly beautiful woman who is changing me from the inside out. This is text recording simple thoughts or moments I'd like to remember which come to mind through music, movies, books, the Holy Spirit, friends, nature, images, and the bittersweet symphony that is 21st century humanity.
